2007

  • Cottage Week, 18-26 Aug 2007 - This was a fun week. We started off seeing Grandma and Grandpa for a few days. Then they left and the Olives came up, then the Olives left to go camping, and Micah, Shan, his new girlfriend, Todd, Christa, and Jon came up for the weekend. A special guest appearance was made by Peter and Alexia, in country to show off their newborn, Tomas.

2006

  • Cottage Weekend, 08-11 July 2006 - We had a great extended-weekend at the cottage with Grandma and Grandpa. Most of the photos are of Catriona and Graeme, of course.
  • Baie d'Urfe, 08-10 April 2006 - Actually we only really have Baie d'Urfe photos from the one day, as the kids' Grandma and Grandpa headed out to Vancouver the day after we got there. But it was a nice visit, resulting in the requisite photos of everyone going ga-ga over Catriona. <grin>

2005

  • Marilyn Tooley's 60th Birthday Party, 19 Nov 2005 - Since Mom was away for her birthday in October, we celebrated her 60th today instead. 40 or so of Mom's closest friends gathered at the Atwater Club (formerly: MBSC), wined and dined, roasted and toasted, and generally had a great time.
  • Baie d'Urfe, 25-26 July 2005 - Part of our three week summer holiday was spent in Baie d'Urfe. Here are some photos from the family supper we had with Heather and George, as well as the usual suspects. (This set includes the photos from our ferry crossing at Oka.)
  • Family Cottage Week, 19-22 July 2005 - Part of our three week summer holiday was spent at Bark Lake doing family stuff. (We also spent some time there with friends, but that's another posting.) Fun was had by all. These photos are mosty of Graeme having fun at the cottage, of course.
  • Stratford Family Weekend, 21-23 May 2005 - As happens every year around this time, we gathered at Stratford to see each other and catch a play or two. John and Shirley sacrificed their play-going in order to spend the day with Graeme. This is great for us (Doug & Jenn) as it means we get to see a few plays. Thanks! Jim, Marilyn and Kristen came from Montreal. Ed, Rosemary and her friend Jill, and Tom & Ling, from "near Toronto". Doug B., Mary, and Phoebe came down from Marathon. Michael and Lorraine came down from Sudbury. Much fun was had by all.
  • John and Shirley Visiting, 24 Apr 2005 - John and Shirley were visiting for a few days. These are videos of Graeme playing the recorder, accompanied by Shirley on flute and John on clarinet.
  • Easter Weekend, 26-27 Mar 2005 - John and Shirley (Granddad and Grammy) came to visit for Easter Weekend. Shots include Graeme's first easter egg hunt, and Uncle "Noodle" Ed joining us for dinner.
  • Visiting Family in Montreal, 12-13 Mar 2005 - On Saturday morning Graeme and Grandpa made a snowman. We visited with friends for the rest of the day (photos linked off the Friends page). On Sunday Grandma hosted brunch and George, Janet, Chris, and Kath, came over to join us (and Kristen too, of course).
  • John and Shirley Visiting, 21-23 Jan 2005 - Grammy and Granddad came to visit this weekend. We had our family meal on Saturday night, and Graeme entertained, as usual.

2004

  • Christmas Weekend, 24-26 Dec 2004 - We hosted Christmas this year. Jenn's parents (Grammy and Granddad), Doug's parents (Grandma and Grandpa) and sister Kristen visited. Ling and Tom came as well, bringing with them Tom's parents Michael and Lorraine, and brother Tim, and his wife Pato. We hosted supper on Christmas day. Ling and Tom hosted brunch the following morning, after which we went to the RBG to feed the birds. Fun and merriment was had by all.
  • Jim and Marilyn Visiting, Outing to Balls Falls, 07 Nov 2004 - Grandma and Grandpa came to visit. On Sunday morning we drove to the Niagara area, visited Harbour Estates Winery in Jordan, ate lunch at Inn On The Twenty, and walked around the Balls Falls Conservation Area.
  • Thanksgiving Weekend at the Cottage, 09-11 Oct 2004 - We visited Grandma and Grandpa at the cottage this Thanksgiving weekend. Heather and Brian were in town, and Kristen came up to join us. Much fun was had by all. Doug, Jim, and Brian went for a hike up to "Beaver Lake". Heather introduced us to the wonderful "Fleurs d'Ail". Doug, Graeme, and Jim attended the Doug Lloyd Memorial plaque unveiling in Barkmere, down by the landing.
  • Baie d'Urfe, 12 Sep 2004 - A heron landed by Mom's pond today and proceeded to eat his fill of goldfish. We were able to capture a couple of good photos. There is a nice family picture on the second page.
  • Cottage, 06-09 Sep 2004 - We went up to the cottage for a few days, just us with Jim and Marilyn (Grandpa and Grandma). It was cold and damp, presumably remnants from the hurricanes down south. On top of that Graeme had an ear infection. So those negatives aside, it was a nice couple of days.
  • Forest & Stream Club, 10 Sep 2004 - On the anniversary of my grandfather, "Big Jim" Tooley's birthday, we, his family and friends, gathered at the Forest and Stream Club in Dorval, Quebec, to remember him. Jenn and I hadn't been back since our wedding, six years ago almost to the day. Nancy Tooley was hosting, with Charlie, Kim and her new husband Ryan also up from Stowe. Harry and Dorothy Teasdale were there, which was fortunate given that Dorothy's knee was recently worked on. John and Jean King were full of stories. Derek and Maryl Towle attended, of course. My parents Jim and Marilyn, and my sister Kristen rounded out the group. Graeme stayed with Jonathan, Julie and Daniel that night so that Jenn and I could take a much-needed night out.
  • Olga and Ric's Farm, 2 Aug 2004 - This qualifies as a "family" entry because the event was a reunion of some of Shirley's classmates from high school. Through an fun coincidence, Jenn and Olga used to work together at Sears a few years back. Olga and Ric rent out their fields to a local farming family. As luck would have it, they chose today to harvest his crop of "winter wheat" from the fields surrounding the house. Graeme and Doug had the opportunity to ride a combine harvester. Ric cooked salmon in his new smoker, and combined with food (potluck) from those attending, making an excellent meal on the grass by one of the wheat fields. Annotation by Doug and Shirley. 19 of the photos are from Gerry, one of the attendees. Gerry had a big lens (400mm, drool) on his camera. Doug enjoyed talking photography with him.
  • Stratford, 22 May 2004 - We had our annual family get-together at Stratford this weekend. Jim, Marilyn, and Kristen came from Montreal, John and Shirley from Owen Sound, Ed from Mississauga, and Julia and Tom from Burlington (and Doug). Jenn stayed home with Graeme who wasn't feeling well, which turned out to be a good thing, as he napped four(!) times (lying on his Mom's chest). We saw "Guys and Dolls" in the afternoon. It rained, thundered, and lightninged, over supper at Falstaff's. The storm caused a power outage which delayed the evening plays slightly. A few of us saw "Macbeth" and a few saw "The Count of Monte Cristo".
  • Families Visiting, 21-24 May 2004 - Jim, Marilyn, and Kristen stayed for a few days which included our annual Stratford trip (posted just below). John and Shirley came by on Sunday to visit with Graeme. It was a damp weekend consisting of mostly hanging out inside with the occasional venture outside so that Graeme could... um... mow the sidewalk.

2003

  • Jim Tooley's 60th Birthday Party, 13 Dec 2003 - We celebrated Dad's 60th birthday at my parent's place this weekend. Many old friend were there and a good time was had by all.
  • RBG Greenhouse, 16 Nov 2003 - We visited the RBG greenhouse where they were holding a craft fair. We met a nice gentleman (Les Reynolds, 81 years old) who weaves scarves, shawls, blankets, etc., as a hobby and small business. ("At $2 per hour, people couldn't afford what I make." He sells them to recover the cost of materials and to make room for new creations.) Unfortunately, we didn't think to get a picture of him. So instead we'll show you Graeme among the flowers.
  • Both sets of (grand)parents visit, 02-03 Nov 2003 - The Dicksons and Tooleys came from near and far to visit Graeme. (Doug and Jenn happened to be there too.)
  • Skinner's Bluff (Bruce Trail) Hike, 12 Oct 2003 - Fall colours were in fine form this Thanksgiving weekend. John & Shirley brought us up to Skinner's Bluff, near Wiarton, for this nice hike. Fall colours made for a lot of picture taking.

  • John and Shirley Visit, 05-06 July 2003 - Actually, they're mostly photos of Graeme being cute on the front lawn. But John and Shirley were the ones being "cuted".
  • Quebec Visit, 28-30 June 2003 - We went to the cottage. Heather & Brian were visiting from Vancouver. George, Janet & Kath came up Saturday, then Sherri & Michael Whitcombe came by on Sunday. On Monday, we went to Montreal to meet up with Nancy Tooley & Charlie who had come from Stowe to visit Graeme. Then we stopped by to see Janet and retrieve the new Harry Potter book that Kath had borrowed from Doug.
  • Father's Day Breakfast & Hike, 15 June 2003 - John and Shirley were in town visiting. Tom and Julia also joined us. We went out for a dim sum breakfast in Hamilton, followed by a hike along the Bruce Trail in Dundas. Our walk included "The Hermitage" ruins and enjoyable weather.
  • Marilyn (Grandma), Jim (Grandpa), and (Aunt) Kristen visited, 21-25 May 2003 - Jim showed up on Wednesday and spent Thursday and Friday golfing near Niagara Falls. Marilyn and Kristen showed up on Friday and we had a nice family dinner. On Saturday we went to Stratford (see above) and on Sunday they head home. Marilyn has satisfied her urge to see and cuddle Graeme for a good week to two. <grin>
  • Stratford weekend, 24 May 2003 - Jim, Marilyn, and Kristen came from Montreal. Julia, Tom, Rosemary, Ed, and us, of course, came from our places near Toronto. John, Shirley, Michael and Lorraine came from their homes "up north". It ended up being a great day for a picnic despite the forecast. John and Shirley baby-sat Graeme while Jenn and Doug attended the plays - that's fantastic Grandparenting, we must say.
  • Mary, DougB, and Phoebe visited, 15-16 May 2003 - Mary, Doug, and Phoebe stayed with us Thursday night. It was their first time seeing Graeme in person. Ed, Julia, and Tom dropped by for supper, but somehow didn't make it into the photos.
  • John and Shirley visited, 10-11 May 2003 - John and Shirley were in Stratford with Mary, DougB, and Phoebe on Saturday. They stayed with us that night. Julia and Tom came over for the day.
  • .Easter Weekend, 19-22 April 2003 - Shirley and John, um, I mean Grammy and Granddad came to visit for the weekend. Shirley stayed and John continued on to Boston where he ran in the Boston Marathon.
  • Graeme's first visit to Owen Sound, 16-17 April 2003 - Graeme went to visit his Grammy and Granddad in Owen Sound.
  • Graeme's first visit to the Grindstone Marsh, 15 Mar 2003 - With Graeme's Grandma and Grandpa visiting, we took our usual walk through the Grindstone Marsh. The photos are not likely to be of gripping interest to many more than the five of us, but it was a beautiful warm, spring day.
  • Graeme visits family in Montreal, 23-24 Feb 2003 - George, Janet, Chris, Kath, Kristen, Great Grandma, came by for supper, and Phyl and Alan showed up the next day.

2002

1998

  • Montreal Ice Storm, Jan 1998 - Jenn & Doug traveled to Montreal on the sad occasion of Doug's Granddad, J.F. Tooley's, funeral. The service was held down in Vermont, and traveling there from Baie d'Urfe required traveling through the areas of rural Quebec worst hit by the Ice Storm a week earlier.
