• 04 Feb 2008 - Alan, Lorraine, Sam, and new baby Sophie visited us for supper tonight, as they were passing through town. Some photos of Sophie, plus several cute ones of Catriona.
  • 09 Feb 2008 - Chinese New Years Party. It's become a tradition in our house. Not that we have any particular affinity to the Chinese culture... but we love the food. Once a year we gather with friends to enjoy some Peking Duck and home made wonton soup. We had a great time. Many friends from Montreal made it this year, and as a result a lot of friends stayed overnight.
  • 12 Feb 2008 - Swimming Class at the Y. Graeme and Catriona have their swimming classes down at the local YMCA.
  • 08-15 Mar 2008 - March Break at the Cottage. It was the snowiest winter in memory, and we had a great time at the cottage. Graeme learned to downhill ski and we had the best tobogganing in years.
  • 05 May 2008 - Ma Yo Yo. A few years back Cole made me a beautiful yo-yo, which he turned himself, on his lathe.
  • Soccer. I added the page for Graeme's 2008 soccer team. All soccer photos for this year will go under that page.
  • 08 June 2008 - Buskerfest in Dundas, featuring Silver Elvis , the Aussie band Oka , numerous jugglers, a contortionist, and many shots of Graeme and Catriona.
  • 01 July 2008 - Canada Day at Cole & Suzy's. We got to meet Aija for the first time! She was very cute, snuggled up to Suzy. Cole was being the proud daddy. Graeme wasn't with us today as he was up in Owen Sound visiting his Grammy and Granddad. Catriona, on the other hand, was in full "demo mode", full of big smiles and charming everyone.
  • 20 July 2008 - Walking in the Rain. This weekend was deliberately lazy for us. And to celebrate the weather (lazy, rainy, summer day) we went out puddle stomping. It was a wonderful outing which brought unexpected joy: Warm enough to get wet, dry enough to not feel soaked, rainy enough to keep away the bugs, and puddles... big splashy puddles.
  • 04 Aug 2008 - Owen Sound Triathlon. Our friend Alasdair ran the Owen Sound Triathlon today, and his friend Doug W. ran the duathlon. We used attending as an excuse to visit Grammy & Granddad in Owen Sound. Here are our photos from the run.
  • 16-23 Aug 2008 - Our week at the cottage. This was a fairly wet summer, but our week at the cottage was excellent. The kids had a great time: there was much swimming and hiking. Graeme went on his first canoe trip to Lac Saint Denis with his Mom & Dad. (Catriona got to stay with Grandma and Grandpa for a few days.)
  • 19-21 Aug 2008 - Graeme's First Canoe Trip. As a kid I (Doug) camped numerous times in Park Papineau Labelle and the lake I camped on the most was probably Lac Saint Denis. My very first canoe trip was with my parents happened when I was four years old, and Jenn and I are very happy to introduce Graeme to the same lake when he is about the same age (5.5yrs). The weather was perfect - I couldn't imagine a better introduction. Catriona stayed back at the cottage with Grandma and Grandpa. May her first canoe trip experience (in a few years) be as strong as this one.
  • 23 Aug 2008 - Visiting Vance and Family in Ottawa. On our way home from the cottage we stopped in Ottawa to visit with Vance and finally meet Megan and Lily. We has supper at a very tasty Thai restaurant near their place. The kids got a long well and our time together was over far too quickly.
  • 13 Sep. 2008 - French Immersion picnic at Christie Lake Conservation Area. Our picnic was organized by Kyra, who did a great job. The weather held. The kids had a good time. The parents got to chat. Ryk and I (Doug) got to play with fire (BBQ). Fun was had by all.
  • 31 Oct 2008 - Halloween 2008. This Halloween, Graeme (5 3/4 years old) was a Ninja, and Catriona (2.5 years old) was a "ladybug" (or fairy, in the colours of a ladybug). Weather was perfect, and the neighbourhood was thick with kids.
  • 29 Nov 2008 - Graeme lost his first tooth! Graeme is pretty happy. Today he was *going* to put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy, but at the last moment he decided not to, because he didn't want to lose the tooth (his first one after all) after only having it out for a few hours. So he'll put it under his pillow tomorrow night (maybe).
  • 28-30 Dec 2008 - Cottage. We headed to the cottage shortly after Christmas, for a few days. The weather was gray, the ice was still forming, but we got to spend some family time with Grandma and Grandpa.
  • 31 Dec 2008 - New Years Eve 2009, at the Olive's. This year we celebrated New Years Eve at the Olive's house in Point Claire. Due to some bad luck (from our perspective) we were the only family from our Ontario friends to make it to Montreal this holiday. Plus, Todd & Christa had traveled West to see some departing friends of theirs, so we weren't up to our usual numbers. On the other hand, the kids had a good time playing with each other as usual. The food was tasty (pot luck!) and of course wine was flowing. We got to meet Janie & Steve (& Estelle) for the first time, as well as renewing acquaintances with Jennifer & Chris. Add to that the usual suspects, and a good time was had by all.
