18 Oct 2009 (Doug) - Okay, it's been a bit too long since my last update. I blame some of it on my having lost my main computer due to a lightning stike. No data was lost, but I couldn't do any website work for a month or two. The other biggest reason was I take too many photos and so it takes me too long to go through them. All flimsy excuses.

01-03 July 2009 (Doug) - Our first camping trip of the year, and Catriona's first trip ever. We went to Long Point Provincial Park with the Xaviers (and the Legues showed up for the afternoon!). Much fun was had by all.

07 Apr 2009 (Doug) - This weekend we went on a hike with the Patersons. It was perfect weather to be exploring the woods, mucking through streams, and generally taking in Spring. We explored the trails just off of Rockcliffe Rd. in Waterdown, including on and off of the Bruce Trail.

17 Mar 2009 (Doug) - I've posted our photos from "New Years Eve 2009 at the Olive's". There are less photos of the kids in this batch, but the adults all had a good time. The kids did have fun playing with each other of course. Graeme and Catriona really like seeing Sarah, Ryan, Daniel, and Seb... they were talking about it for days before and after. (and Sam and Sophie, and Estelle, and David, and Daniel...) Okay, there were a lot of kids.

08 Mar 2009 (Doug) - Catriona turns three years old next week so today a few friends came over and we celebrated with a birthday party! Catriona was thrilled to have her own party!

31 Jan 2009 (Doug) - Wow, has it really been two months since our last update? I have so many Christmas and New Years photos to put up. Skipping over those to something more timely, today we went to the RBG and did the "Stories in the Snow" outing. Keaghan, Ailish, Alasdair, and Kyra joined us. Much fun was had as we walked around the woods looking at animal footprints/scat/beds/dens/chews/rubs/larvae/etc.

29 Nov 2008 (Doug & Jenn) - Owen Sound Triathlon, 04 Aug 2008. Here are the photos of the Owen Sound Triathlon which we attended in August. Our friend Alasdair ran the triathlon, and his friend Doug W. ran the duathlon. The kids enjoyed playing in the park.

16 Nov 2008 (Doug) - Halloween 2008. It's snowing as I post this, but two weeks ago the weather was perfect for a little trick-or-treating.

14 Oct 2008 (Doug) - Graeme's First Canoe Trip. From our week at the cottage, we took a side-trip to Lac Saint Denis. We had a great time.

04 Oct 2008 (Doug) - Cottage Photos, from August... only two months ago. How time flies. Some would argue that if I took less photos, it wouldn't take me as long to go through them all to post them. Those people would be observant. Not included are the photos of Graeme's first canoe trip which we did this week. Those will come soon. On our way home from the Cottage we stopped in Ottawa to visit with Vance and family, which was great since we hadn't seen Vance in years and we finally got to meet Megan and Lily.

20 July 2008 (Doug) - "Walking in the Rain" - This weekend was deliberately lazy for us. And to celebrate the weather (lazy, rainy, summer day) we went out puddle stomping. It was a wonderful outing which brought unexpected joy: Warm enough to get wet, dry enough to not feel soaked, rainy enough to keep away the bugs, and puddles... big splashy puddles.

19 July 2008 (Doug) - Last week's soccer photos. (not today's). Also, Ailish came over to our place to play with Catriona while Graeme went to Keaghan's 6th birthday party.

07 July 2008 (Doug) - For Canada Day this year we went over to Cole & Suzy's for their annual party and we got to meet Aija for the first time! Graeme was away at his Grammy & Granddad's place, but Catriona was in full "demo" mode.

These photos feature jugglers, a magic act, Silver Elvis, the Australian band Oka, and of course, Catriona and Graeme sharing ice cream.

22 Oct 2006 (Doug) - Okay, the site is back up. We lost the server due to a particularly nasty power surge, despite the fact that it was behind a decent UPS. (oh well) Now: new motherboard, new power supply, and new RAM later, we're back up and running. The previous computer was a P2 333MHz machine. This one is a 1.8 GHz machine with 512 MB of RAM. ("bare bones" by today's standards) I wonder if we'll see a difference in performance? France and, more importantly, Graeme and Catriona photos will follow shortly.

03 Aug 2006 (Doug) - Yes, I've been bad at updating the site. So, to help make up for it, here it a set of photos from the Cottage in early July, with the vast majority of the photos being of Catriona or Graeme (of course!).

17 May 2006 (Doug) - In early April (Apr 2nd), Graeme and I went for a hike to Fisher Lake along a stretch of the Bruce Trail we hadn't visited before. Graeme hiked for almost the full 3-4km! His longest hike yet, and zero complaining. I was very proud of him.

14 May 2006 (Doug) - It appears I'm doing these updates every 3 weeks or so now. Here are photos from Catriona's second month of life, as well as general family stuff.

23 Apr 2006 (Doug) - A couple of weeks ago (Apr 8th) we went to Baie d'Urfe to visit family and friends. Here are the photos (yes, mostly of Catriona) from the one day we got with Grandma and Grandpa before they boarded a plane for Vancouver. 07 Aug 2005 (Doug) - For the last three weeks we've been on holiday. A week at the cottage, a few days in Montreal, back home, a few days up in Owen Sound, back home, then four days in San Francisco. 06 July 2005 (Doug) - Cole & Suzy hosted a Canada Day BBQ and Fireworks. Bubbles and water pistols, available for the kids, were a bit hit with the adults too.

12 June 2005 (Doug) - Here are the photos from our annual Stratford Family Weekend held last month. The weather was nice, although a bit chilly, and the plays were fun. It's great seeing everybody at these events!

12 June 2005 (Doug) - Back in early May, Graeme's daycare had their anniversary party. Graeme's friends Callum, Mackenzie, and Keaghan were there.

10 May 2005 (Doug) - A month ago we got together for dinner at Steph and Brad's place. Jon and Sergio were in town. Jay and Nissan were there too. Graeme was quite well behaved. Fun was had by all. The next day we went on a hike to find the pond that we knew (from a satellite photo) was along the river near the local YMCA.

24 Apr 2005 (Doug) - Graeme's first time riding his bike! It's a small, blue, two-wheeler, with training wheels, of course. We also have videos of Graeme performing a recorder concert accompanied by Shirley on flute and John on the clarinet.

05 Oct 2004 (Doug) - Early September we visited Grandma and Grandpa up at the cottage. It was cold and gray and Graeme had an ear infection, but other than that it was a nice couple of days.

22 Sep 2004 (Doug) - A week and a bit ago we were in Baie d'Urfe and a large heron landed in Mom's pond in the backyard.

21 Sep 2004 (Doug) - I'm off sick today, so taking advantage of time between naps, I'm going to work on posting old photos that I keep meaning to get put up here. In July we got together at Chris & Katy's place to celebrate Todd's combined "Birthday and Job Quitting".

20 Sep 2004 (Doug) - For the record, I really appreciate email saying: "hey, why haven't you updated the website?". Here are some recent photos. This past weekend we had the "Waterdown Friends" over at our place. Specifically, all the Moms and kids. Ailish and Taggart are recent additions to the group. It was fun having everyone together again. The week before, our family and close family friends gathered at the Forest & Stream Club to remember my grandfather, on the anniversary of his birthday. Fun and merriment (and great food!) was had by all.

7 Aug 2004 (Doug) - I'm posting out of order here. These are the photos from our Canada Day excursion in Guelph with Jonathan, Julie, Daniel, and Jonathan's parents. Included in this group is one of the best shots of Graeme that I've taken to date, standing by the river.

5 Aug 2004 (Doug) - Doug went to the unveiling of the Canadian X-Prize contender the "da Vinci Project"'s space ship "Wild Fire". A once in a lifetime chance - how often do you see space ships under construction? The unveiling was followed by a party at a local bar.

3 Aug 2004 (Doug) - Yesterday, Monday of the long weekend, we attended a reunion of friends from Shirley's high school. Olga and Ric hosted at their farm in Wallacetown, SW of London, Ontario. Graeme and Doug took the opportunity to ride a combine harvester, something Graeme probably won't remember, but at least we'll have these pictures to show him.

We saw "Guys and Dolls" in the afternoon, had supper at Falstaff's, and watched "Macbeth" or "The Count of Monte Cristo" in the evening. Fun was had by all, except Jenn and Graeme who stayed home because the little guy was feeling under the weather.

While they were here we celebrated a quadruple birthday (Doug,Jenn,Shirley,Julia) over at Julia & Tom's place. Moving into October the three of us visited Montreal where we saw family and friends. Doug had his 15 year LCC (high school) reunion. On the way home we passed through Kingston and visited with Great Grandma.

28 Sep 2003 (Doug) - Okay, it's been a while since I've posted any updates. The good news is, there are plenty of photos to post. Let's start with some pictures of Graeme from last weekend, on his Sep 2003 page. That weekend Jon was visiting. Still further back, two weekends ago, Jenn and I visited the Niagara Region (NotL, wineries, etc.) for our first overnight "vacation" away from Graeme.

9 Sep 2003 (Doug) - Here are our photos from this past weekend: We've started Graeme's Sep 2003 page. On Friday Graeme went to his playgroup to see Rhys, Mackenzie and Callum. On Sunday we went hiking in the Borer's Falls Conservation Area with Sonya, Dave, and Callum.

2 Sep 2003 (Doug) - A number of updates today. Graeme's Aug 2003 page has been updated with photos of him feeding himself. Over labour day weekend we managed three hikes (Bruce Trail on Saturday, Bruce Trail with Micah on Sunday, and Spencer Creek Trail on Monday, all in Dundas, Ontario) and we attended Steph & Brad's BBQ on Sunday from which we were able to see the fireworks at over at the CNE [www.theex.com].

23-24 Aug 2003 (Doug) - We had a cottage weekend! Last minute planning resulted in a really nice weekend.

18 Aug 2003 (Doug) - Graeme's August 2003 page has a number of new photos, including links to Jim & Marilyn's visit, and to Graeme's new wading pool.

11 Aug 2003 (Doug) - Graeme's August 2003 page has been updated, including visiting John & Shirley's, and a link to our afternoon barbeque at Jay & Nissan's place, which involved (among other things) Graeme slobbering all over Steph's face.

6 Aug 2003 (Doug) - If you tried to connect over the last day or two you probably had trouble getting through. The site wasn't down, but dhs.org was and since their computer is the one which tells your computer where this computer is located, you couldn't connect. No matter - it seems fixed now. I've posted one last photo to Graeme's July 2003 page and started in on his August 2003 page.

27 July 2003 (Doug) - New Graeme photos from this weekend, plus shots from brunch at Warren & Charlene's (which are almost entirely shots of Graeme, but who's counting).

25 July 2003 (Jenn) - John and Shirley visited from July 23-25. Also on July 25, some of Graeme's friends from his playgroup came over to play.

16 July 2003 (Doug) - John and Shirley visited on the 5th and 6th, and it took until today to post the pictures from that weekend - we must be slipping.

3 July 2003 (Jenn) - Graeme has posted new pictures on his June 2003 page and started his July 2003 page. He went to the cottage to visit with GAH (Great Aunt Heather) & Brian, and lots of people came by to see him. Then he went to Montreal to visit with Nancy Tooley, stopped in to see George & Janet's house, and then went to see his friends Sarah & Daniel. On his way home, he stopped in to see his Great-Grandma too.

18 June 2003 (Doug) - This past weekend was Doug's first Father's Day. We celebrated by going out for dim sum with family, followed by a hike along the Bruce Trail, near Dundas. One week previously we attended Brad's Birthday BBQ.

15 June 2003 (Doug) - Graeme gave his Daddy his first father's day card. (on Graeme's June 2003 page)

5 June 2003 (Doug) - I've added a collage-banner to the "Friends 1998" page featuring pictures from our Cayman Islands trip that year. I've also added our Montreal Ice Storm 1998 photos too.

3 June 2003 (Doug) - Our trip to Grand Cayman over New Years 1998 has been posted off of the Friends page! I used the digital camera to scann in a good number of our prints (my apologies for the quality). I really enjoyed going back over the five year old photos. Hopefully this will motivate me to post more!

1 June 2003 (Doug) - I've added one last addition to Graeme's May 2003 page, and started in on his June Page. The photo on the June page links to a collection of shots from our garden. Well, they aren't as much shots of our garden as pictures of Graeme sitting in the garden, but close enough.

29 May 2003 (Doug) - I've added a few additions to Graeme's May 2003 page, plus a small but important change to the Cayman Island trip page.

25 May 2003 (Doug) - Last weekend we hiked along a section of the Bruce Trail near Dundas, with Warren, Charlene, Jay, and Nissan. On the Sunday we partook in a BBQ at Richard's place. This weekend Jim, Marilyn, and Kristen came to visit, which included a day in Stratford (see previous entry).

24 May 2003 (Doug) - We visited Stratford today and had our annual family get-together. We had our traditional picnic, then we split up to see the afternoon plays (Anthony and Cleopatra, and Gigi). We got back together for an early supper at Sapori, then those of us remaining caught the evening showing of the Hunchback of Notre Dame. John and Shirley were fantastic: they baby-sat so Jenn and I could see the plays.

17 May 2003 (Doug) - Last weekend John and Shirley visited and Graeme went for his first slide at the park (see the video). This week Mary, DougB, and Phoebe stayed over on Thursday night. 27 Apr 2003 (Doug) - So far in the construction of this website we've posted current photos only. Ideally, we'd like to post past photos as well. I (Doug) became interested in photography in 2001 (give or take) so photos from before then are likely to be sporadic. We'll be posting old photos approximately "whenever to get to it". The first page is up: Rob & Doug's (now) classic photo, "Rob and Doug McKenzie", from UWaterloo. Off the "friends" directory, the year was 1993.

27 Apr 2003 (Doug) - It's been a week since our last update, but we haven't been slacking in the photo-taking department. On Graeme's April 2003 page we have a number of new shots. Personally, I'm finding the "look how cute Graeme is" shots to be getting a bit repetitive. I think, for diversity, we'll have to move into new themes, such as Graeme eating and food getting everywhere, Graeme getting in trouble by being a kid, that sort of thing. Jenn's Parents visited on Easter weekend, with John only dropping in briefly on his way to run in the Boston Marathon.

25 Feb 2003 (Doug) - Okay, I've finally added some more shots to Graeme's Feb 2003 page. Graeme also visited the cottage for the first time and met his friends Sarah and Daniel there. Afterwards we headed to Grandma and Grandpa's place and met up with an assortment of Great Aunts, Great Uncles, second cousins. We think even Aunt Kristen was there briefly.

18 Feb 2003 (Doug) - I've posted our "Christmas 2002 Family Photo" which accompanied our "Christmas 2002 Letter". I'll include the text of the letter soon. (I wanted to get the photo up to show it to Murray...)

15 Feb 2003 (Doug) - Our group of friends dined at the Gypsy Co-Op this evening, to celebrate Nissan's 30th Birthday. It was a surprise party. Fun was had by all.

25 May 2002 (Doug) - I've been updating the various pages from time to time. "Family" now contains our Stratford Weekend photos. (Trimmed down substantially from the number of photos taken, believe it or not.) The Australia page is still under construction. I expect to finish it off when my project at work is done.
